OSM/VISTA Job Description
Coordinator position - Full Time
* Eastern Coal Regional Roundtable
* Location: Kingwood, West Virginia
Start date:
April 14 (a later start date can be arranged).
Eastern Coal Regional Roundtable actively promotes the development of
self-sustaining watershed groups through information-sharing of restoration
technologies and capacity building resources for the well being of Appalachia's
citizens and environment. Based in Kingwood, West Virginia, this regional
network of watershed groups seeks applicants for a full-time Coordinator
position.
The Coordinator position is made possible through the Appalachian Coal
Country Watershed Team: a joint initiative of the Office of Surface Mining
and Americorps*VISTA.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's Degree in biology, environmental studies, business management,
and/or English
* Strong communications skills
* Self-motivation
* Proficiency in word processing, Excel, and basic website development
Desired Qualifications:
* Some knowledge of Coal Country environmental issues
* Some grant-writing experience
* Some fundraising experience
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Work with watershed groups to compile relevant/ needed resources
* Make presentations to watershed groups/ other interested parties
* Write,
design, and distribute tri-monthly e-newsletters
* Maintain membership database
* Track legislation relevant to Coal Country
* Provide assistance to Watershed Intern
* Maintain website and online resources
* Write press releases
* Organize meetings/ trainings
* Work with Board of Directors
to write grants, solicit donations, build membership
