Tech Soup is the place for great discounts on the software and some hardware for 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations.  Tech Soup is also a great informational resource for the ways non-profits are using techonogy and for keeping up with emerging technologies.

If you are a student or teacher, the Academic Superstore has great discounts on software and some hardware.

Gifts In Kind manages product give-aways for companies such as Adobe and FileMaker.

Microsoft software donations to non-profits (managed through Gifts In Kind).

The Roundtable often facilitates technology transfers between state offices and non-profit watershed organizations.

The Office of Surface Mining has excessed several computers and is making those available to watershed organizations. To facilitate this effort, Judy Rodd with Friends of Blackwater has agreed to accept all the computers, monitors, etc. and will store the units in Charleston, WV until they are distributed. You will need to travel to Charleston to pick up the computer or pay Friends of Blackwater for the shipping. Another possibility is to find someone from OSM, WVDEP, or a person you know and trust traveling to or from the Charleston area who may be able to pick up and deliver to you.

The Computers have been cleared of all information and programs. However, each PC and the two laptops come with a Windows XP Professional operating system. You will need to obtain any other software such as Microsoft Word, etc and any antivirus protections. They are all very nice computers and work.

Most of the following computers are complete systems including monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers and recovery disks. The two remaining systems will not have monitors and one will not have speakers.

NOTICE: Due to the popularity of this project, only one computer remains (see below). However, check back here regularly for additional give-aways.
